Hefei is stepping up efforts to turn its Future Science City into a world-class science tourism destination. At a conference held on Science Island, the city unveiled a development plan and launched the Hefei Future Science City Science Study Tour Center.

The area is home to some of China’s most advanced research facilities, including the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) and the Steady High Magnetic Field Facility. Officials say these cutting-edge resources, combined with the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of Luyang District’s Sanshigang area, will form the basis of immersive science tourism experiences.

The new study tour center, jointly established by the Luyang District Government, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Anhui Science Popularization and Cultural Industry Association, will organize science education activities, integrate research and industry resources, and operate study tours.

According to organizers, the goal is to make frontier technologies more accessible to the public, create sustainable education programs, and boost regional development through science tourism.
