Hefei’s automotive industry is once again in the spotlight. On August 25, NIO announced that its annual flagship event, NIO Day 2025, will be held in late September in Hangzhou, where the company will officially launch its latest model—the new ES8.

Since its debut in 2017, NIO Day has grown into more than just a product launch; it has become a festival for NIO owners and fans, featuring technology showcases, user gatherings, and major announcements.

Next-Generation ES8

The upcoming ES8 has already attracted wide attention since its recent presale release. Key highlights include:

Power & Performance: Built on NIO’s latest 900V high-voltage architecture, the SUV is equipped with a 102 kWh battery and dual motors delivering 520 kW, producing 700 N·m torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.97 seconds.

Aerodynamics & Range: With 122 aerodynamic enhancements, drag coefficient is just 0.259 Cd, giving it a CLTC range of up to 635 km.

Technology & Intelligence: The ES8 shares advanced systems with the ET9, including a centralized computing platform powered by NIO’s self-developed Shenjì NX9031 intelligent driving chip and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295. This integration boosts computing power and supports NIO’s full-domain vehicle operating system.

Luxury Edition (6-seat/7-seat): Starting at 416,800 RMB, or 308,800 RMB with NIO’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental model.

Signature Edition: Starting at 456,800 RMB, or 348,800 RMB with BaaS.

Stock Market Boost

Since the ES8’s presale launch on August 21, NIO’s shares have surged on both Hong Kong and U.S. exchanges.

On August 22, NIO’s Hong Kong stock rose 11.12%.

On August 25, the stock gained another 15.17%.

The ES8 is manufactured in Hefei, underscoring the city’s growing role as a hub for China’s smart EV industry. With its latest model set to debut next month, NIO is positioning the ES8 as a flagship that combines high performance, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable design.
