Woman Says Hospital Removed her Organs , without her Knowledge

The First Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical University has issued a public statement refuting online rumors that a female patient’s organs were removed without consent, denouncing the claim as a “malicious fabrication” and urging an end to online harassment against its staff.

According to the hospital, videos circulated on social media platforms such as Douyin accused doctors of exaggerating a patient’s condition, coercing treatment, and falsifying medical results. The hospital said the accusations were false and had severely harmed its reputation and the well-being of medical workers.

The patient involved, a 46-year-old woman surnamed Zhong, was diagnosed with stage IB1 cervical cancer in May 2020. She underwent a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy at the hospital on June 1, 2020, with the informed consent of both herself and her family. Postoperative pathology confirmed cervical squamous cell carcinoma.

Subsequently, Zhong received radiotherapy and chemotherapy in accordance with national treatment guidelines. She later reported physical discomfort and disputed the hospital’s diagnosis and treatment. In March 2024, both parties jointly commissioned the Jiangxi Kaiyuan Judicial Appraisal Center to review the case. The center’s conclusion stated that the treatment complied with medical standards, and that complications were consistent with common outcomes of cancer therapy, not malpractice.

In July 2025, a health administrative department investigation team also reviewed medical records, pathology, and imaging data. The team concluded that the hospital had acted appropriately, with clear diagnoses and proper surgical indications. Allegations of organ removal, exaggeration of the condition, or falsified forensic results were found to be untrue.

The hospital stressed that Zhong’s demand for high compensation lacked factual and legal basis, reaffirming its commitment to lawful medical practice. It also called on the parties involved to cease spreading false information and to stop online abuse targeting medical staff.
